Refurbishment
Refurbishing occupied office space can be a challenge. WorkPlace can provide you with an experienced project manager to plan and project manage any refurbishment project whether large or small.
Building contractors and Design & Build companies will be keen to offer you project management as part of their service. A WorkPlace project manager is remunerated only by you and has only your interests at heart. We believe this is a better way of project managing refurbishment projects.
We can help you to develop a brief for the work and advise on whether it is feasible to do all or some of the work in normal working hours to keep costs down. We work with you to develop an outline plan for the works and a budget. We can also advise whether you need additional professionals for the project such as a CDM Co-ordinator or a Quantity Surveyor.
We can suggest possible contractors to bid for the work or work with your existing contractors as required. We have worked with many different contractors but would only propose those who we believe provide good, value for money service, and who are appropriate for the type and size of job.
We believe that good communication is essential on any project and we would develop a communication plan with you for the works. Communication includes:
- Advising and updating your staff about the works and the ways in which they will potentially be affected
- Advising and updating staff about any alternative arrangements during the works
- Working with IT and other in-house staff who will be involved in the project
- Clear instructions and policies for contractors working on the site and what the arrangements are
- Regular updates for you and the management team before, during and after the works
The WorkPlace project manager's role typically includes planning, participation in the selection of the contractor(s), communication, supervision of works, inspection of works, co-ordination of snagging list and completion of snagging. The role can be adapted to suit your specific requirements and to accommodate the level of involvement in the project that you want to have.
