Churn
Churn is the word used to describe internal moves where people are moved (with or without furniture) around their own building to suit changing organisational requirements. Churn needs to take place out of hours to minimise disruption.
Many Facilities Managers, or managers with responsibility for moves, would like to outsource some or all of the management of churn. Often the only options are seen to be outsourcing this role to the furniture supplier or to the removal contractor. The furniture supplier may have vested interests in how churn is implemented and the removal contractor may lack the right level of project management and communication skills to work successfully with your staff and IT professionals.
WorkPlace can provide an experienced move manager with no vested interests to plan and execute your churn either regularly or occasionally. The WorkPlace move manager will liaise closely with you, your IT team, the staff moving, the furniture fitters and the removal contractor to ensure that every move is a success. Working with WorkPlace would allow you to focus on your other responsibilities and would mean you can avoid working unsocial hours on top of your day job.
In an organisation where churn is frequent WorkPlace believe that a clear process for planning and implementing the moves should be developed as a template. Then all moves can be managed to this template and everyone involved is clear on the steps and the communication process. We can provide you with consultancy to develop this process so that your organisation can manage churn successfully with either internal or external resources.
Churn involves updating drawings and amending records of furniture stocks. It also may involve disposal or recycling of furniture that is no longer required. We can advise on, and assist you with, all these aspects of churn.
